Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter is responsible for upkeeping machinery and repairs for Infield Harvesting equipment.
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical inspections and servicing (Preventative maintenance tasks) as directed by the workshop manager and maintenance planner.
- Carry out mechanical maintenance (corrective maintenance tasks) as directed by the workshop manager and maintenance planner
- Attend to, rectify and report any equipment breakdowns immediately
- Complete any mechanical works as recommended by Original Equipment Manufacturer
- Ensure all completed mechanical documentation are submitted to the maintenance planner for record keeping
- Assist in identifying and implementing maintenance opportunities for improvement
- Assist other roles for any tasks deemed necessary by management
- Participate in any meetings including any prestart, HSE, maintenance toolbox meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary
- Notify workshop manager of any defects/damage on all mobile equipment
- Liaise with workshop manager and maintenance planner to ensure major plant inspections and major repairs are planned and scheduled
- Attend Fleet roadside breakdowns as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Heavy Duty Diesel mechanic trade certificate
- Minimum of two years heavy/medium/light vehicle experience
- Experience in mobile plant equipment. Heavy Vehicle mobile mining equipment preferred
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Sound skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power point
- Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
- Ability to work well within a small team environment
