JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Student Activities (DSA) at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, announces the opening of two full-time positions of Student Services Program Coordinator (P3).  This position plans, coordinates, and executes multiple initiatives related to the advisement, education, and support of the University’s fraternities and sororities and their chapter operations.  This position works closely with fraternity and sorority students, councils, campus partners, and community stakeholders to support organizational accountability and student development and assists with internal and external responses and communications involving the fraternity and sorority community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position works under the supervision of the Associate Director for Student Activities/ Director of the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Development (CFSD) and/or Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Development. The role(s) support programs, services, and initiatives related to fraternity and sorority life and contributes to the department’s mission through the application of policies, procedures, and values development and delivery of student-centered programs and services. 

  • Assist with the planning, development, implementation  and evaluation of leadership, educational, and risk prevention initiatives for members of the fraternity and sorority community, including required trainings for the organization, council officers and members. 
  • Serve as a primary advisor for one governing council, determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and interests. 
  • Advise fraternity and sorority students and organizational accountability, self-governance, shared standards, and related topics that support student development. 
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support undergraduate and graduate students in their professional development via regular meetings, oversight of responsibilities, and coaching. 
  • Actively keep abreast of national and international fraternity and sorority policies, trends, and emerging issues, and assist with the interpretation and application of institutional policy and practices. 
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and provide on-site supervision of events/programs related to fraternity and sorority life. 
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of program evaluation/assessment data and the proposal of recommendations for program and service improvement. 
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support student engagement, belonging, leadership development, and holistic student success within the fraternity and sorority community. 
  • Serve on University and departmental committees and attend department staff meetings as required. 
  • Perform related duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree AND four years of related experience in student leadership development/educational programs, fraternity and sorority life, student conduct, prevention education or related areas. 
  • Knowledge of and/or experience facilitating educational, leadership, and/or student development initiatives.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, programs, and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience advising and/or supervising college students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and foster inclusive student-centered environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs, Student Counseling or related field.
  • Membership in an inter/national fraternity or sorority.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management.
  • Experience developing collaborative relationships with campus and community stakeholders.
  • Experience with assessment, program evaluation, and/or data-informed program improvement.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position with an expected salary range of $62,000 to $74,000.
