Job Description

A lab technician position is available in the Bargmann lab in the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences, at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. We are leveraging transcriptome sequencing, computational image analysis, and reporter-gene expression to study the cell identity markers for the purposes of fundamental research. The technician will be part of a team collaborating on a project to validate single-cell expression data from Arabidopsis and other non-model plants. The project will integrate stable transformation, high-resolution microscopy, bioinformatics techniques, and gene regulatory network analysis. The successful candidates may work with the model system Arabidopsis and other non-model plants.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with plant transformation, microscopy, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics is highly desirable, but not all are required; Applicants should be self-motivated, creative, enthusiastic, and be willing to contribute intellectually in a team environment; Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Research experience in molecular biology, plant genetics, plant biology, or related fields; Experience growing plants, especially those species related to the described projects.
