The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for an Associate Farrier to join farrier Travis Burns and Dr. Amy Santonastaso as a member of the Equine Podiatry Service. This position is service-oriented and will focus on the continued development of the College’ Equine Podiatry Service.
The Associate Farrier will be expected to provide ambulatory (on the farm) and in-house farrier services to clients within the College’s practice range along while providing instruction to farrier students. This position will also require contribution to instructional efforts of the service to farrier students, veterinary students, veterinarians, horse owners, and other farriers. Positive interaction with students, local and regional farriers, horse owners, and veterinarians is mandatory. Exercising professional discretion and judgment is expected, as well as professional initiative in carrying out the associate’s primary roles and assignments.
Candidates must have successfully completed high school as well as a farrier training program (or equivalent experience). Have a minimum of 12 months of experience or training. Received Certified Farrier distinction from the American Farrier’s Association.

Starting at $36,501.00, commensurate with experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
