HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Schiffert Health Center team; a department centered on the health and wellbeing of our student population by caring for them in their times of illness or injuries.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Director, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% Administrative and Professional Faculty appointment.
3) You'll provide quality medical care to the students of Virginia Tech by managing direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
4) You'll prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions and refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate
5) You'll participate on development and continuous improvement of programs, procedures and standards of care and collaborate with the university and community to enhance relationships with Schiffert Health Center, students, faculty and staff and serve as a preceptor for student trainees.
6) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $230,000 - $243,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Medical Degree or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy
• Completion of a General Medicine, Family Medicine, Adolescent Medicine or Internal Medicine residency with board certification/eligibility
• Virginia State Medical License or eligibility
• Post graduate clinical experience dealing with a wide range of medical situations and problems; knowledge of typical medical conditions pertinent to college age students
• Ability to communicate effectively with college students, parents, staff members, and other university departments and personnel
• Familiarity with health information software systems and interfaces and an understanding of the unique characteristics of college health and university health centers
• Commitment to a team approach, experience working with committees
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively with a diverse office staff is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of college health center accreditation process and use of electronic medical records (EMR)
• Experience in a college health setting or a primary care setting preferred.
