HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:
YOU’LL BE…

• Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Infrastructure Support of Student Affairs’ IT.

• Managing all networking aspects relevant to the Student Affairs dining servers, cash registers, firewall, receipt printers, kiosks, mobile devices, and kitchen display systems.

• Assuring all hardware and operating systems are functional, secured, and patched with critical updates on a monthly basis.

• Securing systems using network and firewall policies to ensure confidentiality, availability and integrity of the information resources. 

• Collaborating with the dining administrators to schedule system maintenance and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.

• Acting as the project manager for system upgrades and hardware replacements.

• Functioning as an intermediary for dining administration when support and technical issues arise with vendor software and systems. 

• Creating and maintaining technical documentation of systems and verify accuracy through annual audits. 

• Be offered a base compensation package between $53,000-$60,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems and security, or a related field; or, equivalent work experience.

Previous work experience and a proven background in:

• Database administration, data analysis, and project management.

• Configuring hardware firewalls.

• Project management.

• Providing excellent customer service.

• Managing and maintaining Windows Server 2019, Windows 10, and Windows 11.

• Server virtualization.

• Working independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

Previous work experience:

• Managing hospitality or dining point-of-sale systems in a large-scale environment.

• As an IT professional in higher education.

• With WatchGuard Firebox management.

• In IT support and Windows server administration roles.

• Using IT management platforms like Kaseya and IT ticketing systems.

Have an understanding of:

• Active directory and group policy.

• Network monitoring tools and intrusion detection systems.
