Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position will provide specialized, coordinated, and centralized support that advances the unit’s undergraduate student academic support, persistence, and degree attainment, and career and academic advising efforts. The incumbent will analyze, problem solve, collaborate, communicate, and connect students with academic support resources university-wide. They will communicate and coordinate with various internal and external partners within Boise State and community organizations. This position will also provide scheduling & coordination for the department’s peer advising team and provide for their ongoing training and professional development.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Student Services Coordinator must:
● Create and implement academic and career planning curriculum for current, transfer, and non-traditional student orientation, second-degree seeking student orientation, and Bronco Day recruitment.
● Hire, train, and supervise department peer advisors
● Partner with various campus departments, including COAS advising, to create a smooth advising transfer process and support for major and minor students.
● Create and implement curriculum for the student advising team and supervise their interactions with students
● Create, implement, and analyze assessment of all the department’s advising and student support programming
● Maintaining department website, managing WordPress forms as needed, and serving as liaison to COAS Advising on all major students’ needs

35% of the Time, the Student Services Coordinator must:

● Managing communication between the department and students, including creating and
distributing weekly email newsletters to Psychology majors, Psychology minors, and Family
Studies minors
● Maintaining and updating the Department’s Canvas site to align with the departmental
website on information for our majors and minors
● Liaising with instructors of professional development course series
● Supervision and oversight of the Student Center
● Collaborating with the department Business Operations Coordinator and student interns
● Completing Boise State’s mandated FERPA training and maintaining privacy and ethical
handling of sensitive student data.

5%: Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Ability to lead and work collaboratively with others
● Ability to professionally represent Boise State University
● Ability to speak to large audiences. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
● Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
● Ability to effectively develop publication materials (both print and electronic), manage office websites, intranet, online reservation system, all Microsoft Office programs, select Mac software, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Academic advising experience
● Educational background in psychology
● Experience working directly with undergraduate students
● Wordpress experience

Salary and Benefits:
