Job Summary/Basic Function:
|
The Advancement Technology Specialist provides hands-on IT support for the Boise State University Foundation, contributing to the maintenance and accessibility of its technical ecosystem, including the primary CRM system of record and cloud-based tools and APIs. The role supports end users, maintains hardware and software inventory, assists with access management across platforms and systems, supports cloud-based reporting and data pipeline operations, and assists with data management, reporting, and quality control. Additionally, the Advancement Technology Specialist builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and service-oriented environment.

A nonprofit Idaho organization, the Boise State University Foundation was established in 1964 for the benefit of Boise State University. We work to secure philanthropic support for the university by developing and nurturing relationships with our alumni and friends and stewarding gifts made to support Boise State. The Foundation works closely with university leadership, the Boise State University Alumni Association, and the Bronco Athletic Association.

Essential Functions:
|
60% of the time the Advancement Technology Specialist must:
- Provide appropriate resources and access for data acquisition, integrity, and movement across systems to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide technical support for Foundation technology to manage daily operations.
- Ensure integrity of data integration and movement across Foundation systems and software modules to facilitate seamless operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues, including local desktop/laptop support and audio-visual systems. Identify when issues fall within the scope of the Foundation or require additional assistance by OIT.
- Maintain Foundation hardware and software inventory, manage inventory control on all Foundation hardware and equipment.
- Research and recommend new tools, process improvements, or integrations by exploring system-wide impacts, working with functional users to define current and future needs with consideration to Foundation budget.
- Support technical project initiatives including implementation of new functionality, new tools, and process improvement.
- Assess requests for access to the technical ecosystem, including the CRM (currently
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge); evaluate and assign security roles and permissions. Conduct security audits; perform periodic testing on security profiles.
- Assist Advancement Systems Team with imports, complex queries, exports, custom reports, and Quality Control to maintain and improve database health.
- Build and maintain relationships with Foundation colleagues to improve report service delivery and database functionality.
35% of the time the Advancement Technology Specialist must:
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, computer/equipment inventory, and generate reports as needed.
- Provide assistance and advice to clients in the effective use of applications and IT systems; instruct users on the importance of maintaining the security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Foundation constituent and giving information.
- Work with Senior Software Developer & Cloud Solutions Architect to understand current processes for dashboards, including reading and interpreting code and cloud architecture across common programming languages and platforms (currently Python and AWS).
- Support maintenance of licenses across all Foundation hardware and software.
5% of the time the Advancement Technology Specialist must:
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Awareness of current technologies and basic principles of application and data security.
- Ability to provide comprehensive desktop support including hardware, software, and end-user assistance.
- Basic understanding of how databases connect with other software, including introductory experience with APIs or system integrations.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus two years of experience.
|
|
Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, or equivalent CRM platform preferred.
- Prefer degree concentration in: Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Database Management. In lieu of a degree, equivalent experience in technology support, help desk services, or programming preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA A+, Apple Device Support, or similar are preferred.
- Experience with programming languages, such as Python, at a developing skill level preferred.
- Foundational understanding of cloud technology, such as AWS, preferred.
- Experience supporting both Windows and macOS preferred.

Salary and Benefits:
|
Starting salary range is $55,057.60 to $68,827.20 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
