Position Overview:

The Department of Economics at Boise State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2026. Applied research in the fields listed above is especially desirable. The position duration is two academic years, with the possibility of extension for a third year (pending institutional approval and satisfactory job performance). In addition to research, a proven ability to teach principles courses is essential. This position will have a 3-3 teaching load, with the potential to teach multiple sections of the same course. Teaching load is negotiable depending on the candidate’s experience. Both fresh and seasoned candidates are welcome to apply. 

Salary and benefits: 

The salary is $105,000. Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract with pay and benefits spread over 12 months.

Minimum Qualifications:  
  • PhD in Economics or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree must be completed by August, 2026.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully teaching face-to-face courses at the university level.

  • An active research agenda with the potential for future publications in top-tier journals.

Jeanne Clery Act
