Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position has administrative responsibility for coordination of complex academic program elements requiring collaboration with students, faculty, and other departments and programs.

Department Overview:

The Department of Biological Sciences at Boise State University holds a strong commitment to research, teaching and service. Our department serves over 600 students majoring in biology, and many more students taking biology courses for other degree programs. Research in our department spans all levels of biological sciences creating numerous opportunities for collaboration and growth. In addition, we frequently collaborate with faculty, staff members, and students in other departments and colleges.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Biology Graduate Programs Coordinator must:
● Provides administrative support
● Facilitates the delivery of required program services.
● Maintain students files/records.
● Analyzes data, generates and/or assists with, and disseminates periodic reports (monthly and semester).
● May provide support to student groups.
● May oversee the work of less experienced employees or students.
● May independently manage specific program activities.
● Planning and executing assigned projects and operations within the specified department

35% of Time the Biology Graduate Program Coordinator must:

Fiscal Responsibilities:
● Utilize spreadsheets while implementing formulae for efficient calculations in order to manage program budget.
● Project and strategize future financial needs, taking into consideration the cost of various projects.

Data Management and Analysis:
● Create reports and analyze data in areas of enrollment management, accreditation, program review, or assessment utilizing various software including PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, and Faculty 180.
● Implement and recommend operating methods to improve data entry, processing, distribution, flow, and quality control.

5% of time the Biology Graduate Program Coordinator will:

● Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Ability to work independently and use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software or computer systems.
● Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
● Good interpersonal skills
● Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Salary and Benefits:
