The Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for coordinating and implementing transfer student recruitment strategies, enrollment initiatives, and partnerships designed to increase undergraduate transfer enrollment and support student success.
This role serves as a front-line representative of Boise State, providing direct support to prospective transfer students and their families. It requires a strong understanding of university programs, services, and policies, along with a positive approach and a clear commitment to higher education. Responsibilities include responding to information requests, offering individualized advising, explaining admissions policies, and leading presentations for visiting students and families.
The role includes some travel to community colleges, transfer fairs, and key recruitment areas. Providing timely, accurate, and supportive customer service to students, families, and community college staff is essential.

| Essential Functions: |
60% of Time the Transfer Admissions Counselor will:
- Provide initial admission counseling to prospective transfer students and their families, both individually and in group settings.
- Utilize students’ academic background, current enrollment, and planned coursework to guide them through the transfer student process.
- Provide accurate information regarding admission and transfer credit policies, academic programs and degrees, career and special services, financial aid and scholarships, university housing, and other opportunities available at Boise State.
- Represent Boise State at on-campus programs and virtual recruitment events.
- Use university software such as Perceptive Content, PeopleSoft, and Slate to support recruitment and communication efforts.
- Collaborate closely with Boise State advising and academic offices to ensure students are connected with necessary academic support services.
- Travel to represent Boise State at community colleges, college and career fairs, high schools, as well as community and educational agencies.
- Use transfer enrollment data to identify opportunities and develop recruitment initiatives aimed at increasing undergraduate transfer enrollment.
- Plan and manage community college visits, including scheduling, coordinating pre-visit communication, making travel arrangements, conducting visits, and following up with students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, virtual platforms, and in-person meetings.
- Foster and maintain strong working relationships with Boise State colleagues and key external partners, including Extended Studies, Boise State Advising & Academic Support Center, Albertson’s Library, community college transfer center coordinators & academic advisors, administrative staff, and professional educators.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies in specified territories and determine the need to adjust plans as needed to improve outreach and effectiveness.
- Deliver engaging presentations to large and small groups of advisors, students, and parents.
- Consistently model a positive and service-oriented approach in all interactions.
- Support initiatives outlined in the Admissions recruitment plan.
35% of the Time the Transfer Admissions Counselor will:
- Represent Boise State at recruiting events throughout designated recruitment territories and on-campus events.
- Initiate, plan, and execute event programming tailored to the specific needs of transfer students on a specific territory or recruitment area.
- Support initiatives which support divisional or institutional goals.
- Adhere to University policies and procedures regarding travel and procurement
5% of the Time the Transfer Admissions Counselor will:
- Perform other duties as assigned.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience
|

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Strong public speaking experience
- Experience in college or university admissions, or a related higher education field
- Experience with event planning and management
|
| Salary and Benefits: |
