At LCRA, we are seeking two dedicated and driven individuals to join our Telecom team as a Fiber Splicer Field Technician II! If you thrive in overcoming challenges, prioritize excellence, and demonstrate integrity and diligence, we want to connect with you. We are currently offering projects positions crucial to realizing our fiber growth strategy. The key duties of this role encompass fiber installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance, with a specific emphasis on OPGW and loose tube fiber in a substation setting. Additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to the setup, activation, and testing of equipment. Come be a part of shaping the future of our telecom infrastructure at LCRA!

You will be trusted to:

- Perform work related to maintaining the organization-owned communications system and facilities (e.g., fiber optic network installed on electric transmission or delivery lines, microwave). Schedule regular and emergency maintenance, testing and inspecting all telecommunications facilities and equipment. Develop a long-term plan for communications facilities, budgets and equipment requirements.
- Perform work associated with implementation, operation, deployment, and support of the organization’s telecommunication systems. Activities include developing information technology strategies, policies and plans, maintenance, and use of information technology resources.
- Implement network, testing, and troubleshooting as well as supporting after-hours work.
- Adhere to and update preventative maintenance, telecom incidents, and change management programs.
- Interpret complex network drawings, prints, and configurations.
- Perform work by traveling independently or with a small crew to various locations as scheduled.

You qualify with:

- Three or more years of experience in one or more of the following networking technologies: WAN – MPLS, LAN – Route/Switch, DWDM, RF/Microwave Radio, 700/900MHz Trunked Radio (LMR) and/or LTE, fiber splicing or other relevant experience.
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in computer science or related field.
- An industry professional-level certification may be substituted for certain years of experience.
- Driver’s License

You are a great fit with:

- Experience in fiber optic installation, splicing and testing
- Experience with OPGW, loose tube and ADSS fiber
- Experience with driving a truck and pulling a trailer (non-CDL)
