Mount Holyoke College is a highly selective, non-denominational, residential, research liberal arts gender diverse women’s college with 2,200 undergraduate students in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
As part of the Division of Student Life, the area of Student Engagement includes Residential Life, Student Involvement, Be Well, Community Standards, and Orientation. These areas work in partnership with Mount Holyoke College students in creating and engaging in inclusive, compassionate and authentic communities and organizations by challenging and supporting students as they navigate their co-curricular experience at a residential college.
Be Well is the College’s holistic wellness program that provides students’ strategies and opportunities to create their own path to wellness. It integrates four components essential to building a life that sustains and empowers a healthy mind, a healthy body, a healthy community and a healthy life.

The Director of Be Well is a 12-month position with a salary of $62,000-$65,000 and includes good benefits. Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative oversight and strategic direction for the College’s Be Well Program that focuses on promoting a campus culture of sustained overall health and well-being. The ideal candidate will work to create a strong campus network, building connections that help fortify and maintain a Be Well culture that is focused on enhancing and empowering student well-being through strong messaging and actions.
- Develop, implement, oversee a strategic plan that is evidence-based, data driven, and fosters a holistic, multi-disciplinary, and multidimensional approach to student well-being.
- Supervise, train, and support the MoHealth Peer Health Education Program.
- Build a collaborative interdepartmental team that ensures the integration of wellness programs within the Division of Student Life, faculty, and other campus partners.
- Create, coordinate, and evaluate wellness programming, services, and initiatives.
- Provide individual educational sessions for students utilizing Medical Amnesty.
- Oversee the administration of the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) survey in collaboration with College Health Services.
- Develop an ongoing/robust assessment plan to measure program effectiveness.
- Oversee the administration of the online pre-matriculation alcohol and other drug education and sexual assault education courses for new students.
- Develop, oversee and maintain the Be Well budget.
- Hire, train, and supervise 15-20 hours per week of student workers.
- Supervise and collaborate with the Area Coordinator (Be Well)
- Participate in appropriate interdepartmental committees and tasks forces.
- Participate and/or lead local, regional and statewide health education/promotion related committees/groups (5 College Eating Disorder Committee, 5 College Alcohol & Other Drug Committee, 5 College SAPIC-Sexual Assault Prevention & Intervention Committee, NEHEN-New England College Health Educators Network, NECHA-New England College Health Association)
- Work with the Communications Coordinator for the Division of Student Life and ensure clear messaging about Be Well to the campus community.
- Develop an education plan for students, staff and faculty to understand the Be Well philosophy and are provided the tools that will encourage a Be Well mindset.
- Master’s Degree required in public health, health promotion, community health, social work, education, or other related fields.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in health education/health promotion, and/or community based programs.
- Knowledge of assessment, evaluation tools and strategies to design and implement effective programs.
- Significant experience in development and implementation of college-based wellness/health promotion programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to strong collaborative style and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse population of students, staff, and faculty.
- Proficient at formulating policies and protocols to guide and support the work.
- Deep understanding of the principles of diversity and social justice, with the ability to work with communities of students and staff of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
- Strong communications, writing skills, and proficiency in computer skills.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, project development, and organizational change management.
- Solid financial knowledge and budget experience.
