About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build and improve automated data pipelines that support enterprise insight and decision-making. Working within the Data Engineering Chapter, you will collaborate with architects and delivery teams to develop reliable, well-governed data assets aligned to strategic platforms. This role contributes to the ongoing evolution of insights across the organisation.

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver end-to-end data pipelines that acquire, combine, transform and enrich data to support analytical and operational use cases
  • Lead technical solution development, including data modelling, ETL/ELT design and performance optimisation
  • Partner with architects, analysts and engineers to translate business requirements into well-structured data solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to data engineers, improving quality, consistency and delivery outcomes
  • Ensure data solutions meet governance, security, service management and architectural standards
  • Maintain and enhance existing data pipelines, including incident resolution

What you'll bring 

  • Minimum 5 years in data engineering roles, preferably within large organisations
  • Extensive experience in data engineering, including designing and delivering SQL-based data solutions
  • Strong hands-on expertise with AWS services, particularly Redshift and S3, and experience working with cloud data platforms and tools - Databricks and DBT
  • Advanced SQL capability, including performance tuning, troubleshooting and supporting others to lift capability
  • Proficiency working with diverse data formats including CSV, JSON, XML and relational datasets
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines, version control and automation tools such as Git, Jenkins and Control-M
