We’re seeking an experienced SCC Solution Lead to join our Disaster Management Centre of Excellence on a 12‑month fixed term contract. This role sits within Consumer Insurance – Disaster Management and plays a critical part in strengthening disaster response capability through technology, data and innovation.

If you’re passionate about product ownership, digital platforms, and delivering outcomes that support communities during severe events, this is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

About the Role

As the SCC Solution Lead, you will have end‑to‑end ownership of the SCC Web App, driving the delivery of monthly enhancements and strategic initiatives that improve disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

You’ll partner closely with operational, technology and business stakeholders to capture and prioritise requirements, manage the product backlog, and translate complex needs into scalable, customer‑focused solutions. The role is central to the success of the Control Centre and Disaster Response Centre (DRC), supporting improved situational awareness, operational visibility and decision‑making.

This role also directly contributes to Clause 7.3 of the Queensland Commitment Charter, supporting the ongoing development and deployment of the SCC platform to better monitor severe weather, communicate with impacted communities, and leverage AI and data insights before, during and after disaster events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the SCC Web App product vision and roadmap, aligned to operational priorities and disaster management objectives
  • Deliver monthly enhancements and strategic initiatives, maximising product value
  • Balance short‑term operational needs with long‑term platform scalability and sustainability
  • Leverage AI and advanced analytics to enhance situational awareness and decision support
  • Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to define outcomes and user needs
  • Manage end‑to‑end delivery, including governance, stakeholder engagement, testing (UAT/PVT) and release activities
  • Drive continuous improvement using user feedback, usage data and operational insights
  • Promote data‑led decision making across the SCC
  • Champion improvements that strengthen disaster response capability and operational resilience
  • Ensure readiness of onboarding materials, user guidance and feature launch support

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Technology or a related discipline (mandatory)
  • Agile / Product certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM or similar (desirable)
  • 5+ years’ experience in product ownership or similar roles delivering digital platforms or complex web applications
  • Proven experience working in complex, cross‑functional enterprise environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills, including senior leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business and operational needs into clear, outcome‑focused requirements
  • Experience working in Agile, hybrid or scaled delivery models (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and problem‑solving capability
  • A strong customer focus with a track record of delivering measurable business value
  • Change management experience and comfort operating in evolving environments
  • Exposure to disaster management, insurance, risk or geospatial data environments is highly regarded

Key Capabilities

  • Advanced business and commercial acumen
  • Strong technical literacy and comfort working with digital platforms and data‑driven solutions
  • High data literacy and analytical thinking capability
  • Clear, adaptable communication skills
  • Strong time management and autonomy
  • Collaborative, relationship‑focused working style
  • Confident negotiation and influencing skills
  • Adaptability in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment
