This role supports the delivery of SNZ’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework by providing expert first line of defence (1LoD) risk and compliance advice to allocated business units and EGMs.
As a Risk Advisor, you will provide risk oversight for third‑party engagements by reviewing, challenging, and approving risk assessments to ensure risks and mitigations are documented and decisions comply with the Supplier Management Framework, standards, and policy requirements.
You’ll also work closely with peers across Suncorp Group and joint ventures to leverage best practice and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll do:
You will support your business units across the full risk and compliance lifecycle, including risk assessments, control testing, incident management, remediation oversight, and maintaining accurate risk profiles in IRIIS.
You’ll help coordinate control testing plans, monitor remediation progress, support audit engagement and issue closure, and contribute to reporting for business units and committees, including KRIs aligned to risk appetite.
The role also involves providing training and practical guidance to stakeholders, championing conduct risk initiatives, supporting business continuity planning, and escalating matters outside of risk appetite or framework expectations where required.

You are a confident risk professional who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and translating governance requirements into practical business outcomes.
You will bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in risk, compliance or advisory roles (operational risk experience preferred)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
- Experience supporting risk assessments, control testing and incident management
- Ability to educate and uplift non-experts in risk methodology
- Sound understanding of governance, risk and compliance frameworks
- Tertiary qualification in risk, business, law or accounting (desirable)
- Experience with IBM OpenPages (preferred)
You are analytical, detail-oriented, adaptable to change, and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
