The role of Lead, Customer Analytics and Activation helps achieve Suncorp New Zealand (SNZ)’s strategy by working with teams across the business to translate all types of customer-related data (including SNZ transactional and behavioural data as well as external market research and census data) into compelling stories and customer contact plans that help improve customer experiences and achieve business outcomes.

Key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Take business objectives and use them to turn data (from a range of sources) into stories and actionable opportunities (including but not limited to campaigns) to meet customer needs and organic growth
  • Answer hypotheses about customer opportunities by assessing multiple sources of data (including data from SNZ’s data model, source systems and external research); and modelling selected data into insights and proposed actions
  • Tell the story about how different groups of customers are behaving and translate these into business opportunities for external corporate partners (for example, segmentation marketing opportunities)
  • Lead components of preparation and commentary for Board and senior executive teams on key customer metrics, to inform and drive business performance against strategy
  • Generate ideas for exploratory insight that contribute to growth and marketing plans, and advocate for opportunities identified

What we are looking for:

  • Significant experience working with complex data including statistical modelling
  • Passion for working in a customer-focused area
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
    • in an analyst role;
    • or in a more general insight-based role, but with a solid understanding of data (including SQL) and statistical modelling
  • The ability to engage senior stakeholders and technical stakeholders effectively
  • The ability to get across multiple data options quickly, and to understand which data lenses to consider when looking at an insight’s opportunity or problem
  • The ability to view the world through the lens of business strategy and customer opportunities, as well as through quantitative data parameters
  • An excellent understanding of how complex quantitative data structures (and their systems) work
  • Strong organisational and commercial acumen
  • Someone who is a proactive self-starter, detailed, confident engaging with a range of stakeholders, a competent collaborator and driver of change.
