Manager, Health And Safety Systems

About the Role
Working in conjunction with the Health and Safety Leadership Team and the Health and Safety Business Partners, this role is responsible for developing and enhancing the customer service interface for the health and safety services. Responsibilities include maintaining expert knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and university policy, while providing leadership to  Specialist Services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading strategic health and safety services, building high-performing teams and ensuring compliance.
  • Developing and implementing effective systems, processes, and performance metrics, including organisational and divisional reporting, to drive continuous improvement and identify service synergies.
  • Leading and developing a team of subject matter experts, contributing to a university-wide health and safety community of practice and ensuring the achievement of team objectives through effective planning and budget management.


Who we are looking for
This candidate champions service excellence and collaboration, consistently prioritising their employer's interests. A proven leader in health and safety, they build high-performing teams and deliver impactful results. Their skillset includes expert consultation, negotiation, and problem-solving, complemented by business improvement expertise. Effective communication facilitates seamless collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver high impact service delivery from a team of health and safety professionals.
  • Demonstrated high level consultation, influencing and negotiation skills with stakeholders at different levels.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
