As a Teaching Specialist at Northern Health, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education.

You'll have the opportunity to deliver hands-on bedside teaching, mentor medical students, and contribute to the clinical teaching program.

Your expertise will be crucial in supporting examinations and providing pastoral care to students during their clinical rotations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver Hands-on Clinical Education: Conduct bedside teaching for Northern Clinical School students and support the organisation of the MD clinical placement program.
  • Assess and Mentor Students: Contribute to clinical and written examinations, provide pastoral care, and address student performance issues.
  • Enhance Program Quality: Monitor and actively contribute to improving the MD program's efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Foster Research Opportunities: Help create research project opportunities for students in relevant disciplines.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a qualified medical practitioner with experience in medical education, committed to nurturing the next generation of doctors through hands-on clinical teaching and mentorship.

You may also:

  • Hold a medical degree with specialist qualifications registrable in Victoria.
  • Have experience as a college supervisor, trainee supervisor, or in junior doctor training.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in medical education within a clinical setting.
  • Have good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively with university and hospital staff.
