This role is suited to someone with experience in structured project work within a safety-critical, operational or heavy-industry environment. You don’t need to be a fatigue or human factors expert, but you must be comfortable working with safety processes, data, technical documentation and engaging operational stakeholders.
This is not an entry-level role — we need someone who can confidently support project delivery and follow established frameworks.
About the role
You will support the Senior Advisor Human Factors & Performance to implement Aurizon’s Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS). This includes coordinating rollout activities, supporting workshops, assisting with risk assessments and analysing fatigue-related data.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the structured implementation of the FRMS across operational and frontline teams.
- Coordinate project activities including scheduling, tracking milestones and preparing documentation.
- Assist with the development and review of fatigue risk assessments and supporting materials.
- Help facilitate workshops, training sessions and safety engagement activities.
- Analyse fatigue-related data and prepare clear summaries or insights.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the Human Factors function.
- Provide disciplined project support to ensure FRMS meets regulatory and internal requirements.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring a practical, methodical approach and confidence working in environments where safety, compliance and operational discipline are essential.
You will have:
- Experience in project coordination, safety improvement, operations, regulatory compliance, human factors, or similar fields.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to follow structured processes and work within defined safety frameworks.
- Experience engaging operational or frontline stakeholders.
- Confidence analysing data and preparing simple reports or insights.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Highly regarded (not essential):
- Experience in rail, transport, mining, energy, utilities or another safety-critical industry.
- Exposure to human factors, fatigue risk or safety systems.
