The Opportunity
The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering is seeking an exceptional early-career researcher to join a nationally significant ARC Discovery Project exploring the sustainable size of cities and the transformative potential of high-speed rail (HSR) in shaping Australia’s urban future.
As a Level A Research Fellow, you will undertake high-quality, independent research aligned with the project’s objectives, with a focus on the development of a national-scale land use–transport interaction (LUTI) model. This model will be central to the project, generating critical indicators such as job accessibility and population distribution across multiple HSR scenarios.
You will work alongside a team of internationally renowned experts in transport and urban planning, including Associate Professor Liton Kamruzzaman, Professor Hai Vu, Professor Graham Currie, Professor Roger Vickerman, and Professor Eric Miller. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with global leaders in the field and contribute to evidence-based infrastructure and urban policy in Australia.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong quantitative modelling skills, experience in transport or land-use modelling, and a commitment to interdisciplinary, impact-focused research.
