Join our Ward Services Team within our Division of Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is integral to the provision of a customer-focused clerical service within Older Persons Assessment and Liaison (OPAL) Unit and Residential Care Outreach Team (RCOT).

The Ward Clerk plays a pivotal role in the efficient and effective functioning of the ward/unit and is a central point of co-ordination and communication forward activities and contributes to the ward admission, transfer and discharge service.

This role works within a 7 day service, and the successful applicant must be available on alternating weekends to meet service delivery needs.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensuring computer data regarding admission, transfer and discharge information is accurate, complete and up to date for ward inpatients;
  • Ensuring the patient nominal roll board is correct and updated on a daily basis;
  • Assisting in the coordination of bed allocation with the ward in consultation with the Bed Manager and the Clinical Service Coordinator.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with sensitive and personal details.
  • Ability to adhere to instructions, established practices, procedures and guidelines.
  • Possess a high level of personal motivation and initiative and a strong commitment to service excellence.
