Applications are now open for the Regional Health Scholarships for 2025. 

Regional Health Scholarships provide financial assistance to regional students and/or Regional Local Health Network employees for the 2025 academic year in eligible courses studying at a:  
  • University
  • Higher Education Provider
  • TAFE
  • Registered Training Organisation
People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged to apply.
 
Below is a list of categories available under the Regional Health Scholarship, including the eligibility criteria and amounts.  Applicants may select more than one category in their online application.

Eligibility Criteria

Regional Bonding

$10,000

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Undertaking final year of an approved undergraduate course for an eligible qualification as a full-time student
  • Ordinarily reside in regional South Australia prior to undertaking tertiary studies
  • Commit to working in their nominated regional LHN for minimum 12 months (within 6 months of study completion)

Regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student

$7,500

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Studying (part-time or full-time), or about to commence study, in an approved program of Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Certificate IV/Diploma level study in an eligible qualification
  • Ordinarily reside in regional South Australia prior to undertaking tertiary studies
  • Students are encouraged to register with the SA Health Employment Pool to be considered for employment opportunities while studying

Current Public Sector employees are not eligible to apply

Regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employee

$7,500

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Currently employed within a regional LHN
  • Studying (part-time or full-time), or about to commence study, in an approved program of Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Certificate IV/Diploma level study in an eligible qualification
  • Are registered with the SA Health Aboriginal Workforce Network (SHAWN)

Regional School Leaver

$5,000

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Ordinarily reside in an eligible location prior to undertaking tertiary studies
  • Recent secondary school leaver (within last two years)
  • Enrolled or applied to enrol in an approved Undergraduate course for an identified health discipline as a full-time student

Regional Employee

$5,000

  • Currently employed within a regional LHN
  • Studying (part-time or full-time), or about to commence study, in an approved program of Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Certificate IV/Diploma level study in an eligible qualification

Professor Margaret Tobin Scholarship

$4,500

  • Be a current employee of a regional LHN
  • Be undertaking postgraduate study in the field of Mental Health

Student Placement Grant

$500

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Undertaking an approved undergraduate course for an identified health discipline as a full-time student
  • Ordinarily reside in an eligible location prior to undertaking tertiary studies

Current Public Sector employees are not eligible to apply. 
Note: the grant will not be awarded retrospectively.  Applicants must not have completed their placement prior to the application closing date.
