Join our ED/MHSSU Mental Health Team in a newly developed role!!

The main focus of this role is the line management, coordination and leadership of nursing and/or multi-disciplinary team activities to achieve continuity and quality of patient/client care and outcomes.

About the role: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Lead, develop and foster a positive work culture which is based on SA Public Sector and SALHN values and promotes patient / client focussed service, learning and development, safety and welfare of employees, acknowledges differences, and encourages creativity and innovation, within the Mental Health Short Stay Unit and ED Mental Health teams.
  • Ensure that service provision and the activities are person and family centred and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.
  • Provide the pivotal leadership and co-ordination of patient/client care delivery to achieve continuity and quality of patient/client care and outcomes and efficient patient/client flow.
  • Review local processes and practices in accordance with emerging service needs, care evaluation results, identifying imminent systems problems, and coordination of local activities with corporate systems.

About you:

  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in Mental Health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards. Hold a post graduate mental health qualification.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and enhance a range of relevant partnerships, networks and relationships with key stakeholders within and external to the organisation and demonstrate the ability to work respectfully with consumers and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse problems, devise and implement creative & effective strategies with the ability to evaluate outcomes in an effective and efficient manner.
