Business Development Manager (Compost)

The Opportunity

As the Business Development Manager for compost, you will be responsible for optimizing the sales and distribution of compost products across key industries, including agriculture, horticulture, and mine site rehabilitation. This role requires a strong commercial mindset, industry knowledge, and the ability to build lasting relationships with a diverse client base, from suppliers and distributors to contractors and corporate entities.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Identify and target potential clients by leveraging your network and market research.
  • Develop and expand relationships with agriculture and horticulture clients, suppliers selling to farmers, single entities, corporate clients, and contractors to drive compost product sales.
  • Provide insights on compost benefits, application methods, and sustainable land management solutions.
  • Conduct persuasive sales presentations and demonstrations, educating clients on the environmental and agronomic benefits of compost, and positioning it as a key solution for soil health and sustainability.
  • Negotiate contracts ensuring favourable terms and alignment with company goals.
  • Provide regular sales reports, tracking progress against targets and KPIs and collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

About You

  • Proven experience in B2B sales, business development role, ideally within agriculture, horticulture, or environmental sectors.
  • Strong understanding of compost, soil health, or sustainable land management is desirable.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with farmers, suppliers, and corporate clients.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Tech savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office, and experience with a Sales CRM is desirable.
