The Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a Capex Portfolio Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Planning & Support Manager, you will be responsible for managing, analysing and optimising the capital expenditure pipeline by providing insights, reporting and recommendations that enable effective decision making. This role ensures that capital projects are prioritised, monitored and executed in line with organisational goals, risk tolerances, and financial constraints.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Work with project managers, finance teams and business units to validate project scope, costs and timelines
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure projects stay on track
- Conduct detailed financial analysis for capital projects, including ROI, NPV and payback periods
- In conjunction with others, undertake risk review of projects to prioritise to risk mitigation
- Prepare regular reports on pipeline performance, budget utilisation and variance for management
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and reporting methods to enhance the capital portfolio efficiency
- Provide insights into potential risks, opportunities and corrective actions related to capital investment
About You
You are passionate about data and analytics with a technical and curious mindset, who enjoys solving problems within a collaborative team. Your ability to ask the tough questions and critical thinking will ensure your success in the role. Furthermore, you will also possess.
- A Tertiary qualification, preferably from Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in managing, analysing and tracking capex budgets
- Hands-on experience in financial modelling, forecasting and evaluating financial metrics
- Hands-on expertise in assessing risk being addressed by projects
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, a working knowledge of analytical software such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL or Alteryx, and experience with project portfolio management (PPM) software
- Experience in presenting findings, building business cases and influencing business cases
