Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

The Royal Hobart Hospital seeks a highly motivated and team orientated Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide leadership and direction to support and care for patients within Southern Tasmania who have been diagnosed with melanoma. 

Cancer and Blood Services (CaBS) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), is a comprehensive service dedicated to cancer and blood disorder patients including the state-wide bone marrow transplant service. The units together with the Melanoma Institue of Australian work together to provide treatment, research, clinical trials and education regarding these diseases and survivorship care.

The Role:

The Clinical Nurse consultant will plan, coordinate and provide advanced melanoma care management following medical referral across the continuum of care to clients with melanoma; from the point of diagnosis, treatment decision-making, rehabilitation, follow up and palliative care, where appropriate, in accordance with recognised clinical practice guidelines.

Provide clinical leadership in nursing and to other specialist professionals to ensure the effective functioning of a mutually supportive health care team for the patient journey.

You will need

  1. Extensive experience as a registered nurse with demonstrated advanced competence in contemporary melanoma care nursing and management with awareness and understanding that ensures optimal patient care/outcomes across the health continuum.
  2. Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, mediation and conflict resolution skills and a proven ability to educate, influence and be credible to a range of health professionals and consumers.
  3. Well-developed and strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to consult, refer, liaise, and negotiate on complex professional, clinical service and health systems issues.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately fifteen (15) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications or willingness to complete the post graduate certificate in myeloma care nursing and/or cancer nursing.

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
