Duties

Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of staff training and professional development activities that support the service and operational requirements of Services for Youth Justice, including the Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC) and Community Youth Justice.

This position will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of training and professional development activities for Ashley Youth Detention Centre and Community Youth Justice staff. Providing leadership, direction and high levels of ethical and professional behaviour, and promote a safe, therapeutic and secure environment for young people and staff.

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - ASAP start date

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
• The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence

b) sex related offences

c) serious drug offences

d) crimes involving dishonesty

2. Identification check

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
