Overview:
The Recreation Department Administrative Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the College Recreation Department.
Responsibilities:
This position will provide valuable administrative assistance to the Recreation Director and other department staff. The intern will gain hands-on experience in a wide range of areas, including club sports, intramural sports, group exercise, fitness center management, broadcasting of club sport games, and esports. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to develop essential skills in recreation management and event coordination. Responsibilities: Club Sports Support: Assist in the organization and promotion of club sport activities. Maintain club sport records, including registration forms, rosters, and schedules. Coordinate logistics for club sport events, including equipment setup and breakdown. Intramural Sports Assistance: Assist with the planning and execution of intramural sports leagues and tournaments. Help manage participant registration, scheduling, and scorekeeping for intramural events. Group Exercise and Fitness Center Support: Assist in coordinating group exercise classes and fitness center operations. Aid in scheduling fitness classes and ensuring proper facility maintenance. Broadcasting and Media: Assist in the setup and operation of equipment for broadcasting club sport games. Help with live-streaming and recording of games for campus media distribution. Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and managing department records. Assist in budget tracking and financial record-keeping. Event Coordination: Collaborate with the Recreation Director on the planning and execution of departmental events and promotions. Assist in coordinating promotional materials and marketing campaigns. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and faculty utilizing recreation facilities and participating in department programs. Learning Objectives: -Gain practical experience in a diverse range of recreational activities. -Develop valuable administrative and event coordination skills. -Gain office administrative experience and develop professional communication skills. -Networking opportunities within the college's recreation and sports community. -Potential for course credit or academic recognition, if applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Currently enrolled as a college student in a relevant field (e.g., sports management, sports communication, business administration, etc.). -Strong organizational and time management skills. -Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). -Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. -A passion for sports, fitness, and recreation is a plus.
