Schedule: Varies based on student schedule, minimum 4 hours per week during the school year.During the summer, students will participate in asynchronous and synchronous training (remote) to prepare them for coaching.

About the department / center:

CLSC (pronounced “classic”) offers individuals with intellectual disabilities academic, career, and independent living instruction at UD that prepares them for future employment or further education. As day students or students living on campus in residence halls, for two years or four years, they participate in classes, clubs, campus events, internships, and work experiences.

Role Description:

The Career & Life Student Certificate (CLSC) Program is seeking Point Coaches for the Fall 2025 semester

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Point Coaches program at the University of Delaware is part of the Career & Life Studies Certificate (CLSC) Program, which supports students with intellectual disabilities. Point Coaches provide one-on-one individualized support to students as they navigate university resources to achieve their academic, social, career, and independent living goals in an inclusive environment. Their role emphasizes self-advocacy skill development, helping students become more independent while utilizing campus services and opportunities

Qualifications:  

  • Pursing a relevant degree in human services, psychology, education, social work, or other related fields is preferred.
  • Willingness to receive guidance from supervisors, with a focus on continuous personal and professional growth.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively listen to others’ needs, showing empathy and understanding in response.
  • Capacity to approach challenges with analytical thinking, identify solutions, and apply them effectively to support individuals through problem solving.
