Job Summary

The College of Education is home to more than 1200 credential and graduate students. The College of Education’s work focuses on closing the opportunity gap. The College’s impact is notable given the fact that we credential the largest number of teachers of any public institution in the state of California and have the largest Ed.D. program in the CSU system. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Secondary Education team as an Animation Assistant (Student Employee). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Asian Language Bilingual Teacher Education Program Consortium (ALBTEP) supports
opportunities for current and prospective K-12 teachers to obtain an Asian bilingual credential at CSU. The program is committed to supporting educational opportunities and successful career outcomes of credentialed teachers and teacher education candidates seeking Asian bilingual authorization, including, but not limited to: Vietnamese, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, Hmong, Khmer, and Tagalog. By providing scholarships, Asian Language Bilingual Teacher Education Program Consortium makes access to Asian bilingual authorization more accessible to current and future teachers, constructing a future that is respectful, inclusive, and promotes validity to Asian languages, the home language of many students in K-12 public education. It works closely with its sister organization, the National Resource Center for Asian Languages
Center (NRCAL), which also strives to improve the nation’s capacity for the teaching and learning of Asian Languages by creating publications, educational resources, and professional development opportunities.

Under the general direction of the ALBTEP and NRCAL Program Coordinators, the Animation student Assistant provides staff with support on the animation and illustrations for programming operations that include, but are not limited to, assistance with seminar presentations, digital storytelling, and marketing. This individual provides creative support to the program activities as well as coordination assistance for educational events. This is an exciting opportunity for a federal work-study student who is passionate about the intersections to be found between Animation and Asian language education and willing to contribute to the growth of our programs. Other duties as assigned.
