Job Summary

The University Events Student Assistant Position entails working with the University Events team in the Office of University Advancement at Cal State Fullerton. The University Events team Our team produces some of Cal State Fullerton’s largest events including Day of Giving (March), Commencement (May), Convocation (August), SOMOS (October) and CSUF Ducks Night (November) as well as other smaller events throughout the year. Our small-but-mighty team of five includes a Director, Associate Director, Event Specialist, Administrative Support Coordinator and a Student Assistant. We are looking for one student assistant who is detail-orientated and willing to work 12 to 18 hours per week, at least 3+ days per week to be worked on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Regular responsibilities at the office include: answering phones and emails, assisting with mass mailings, website editing, data entry, making copies, organizing event storage, assisting with social media design, photographing and filming events along with other event-related duties. You will be cart-trained to make on-campus deliveries. On-site event tasks include set-up/break-down, guest registration and working alongside vendors and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of Canva, Adobe photoshop, InDesign and Express

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

License/Certifications

  • Valid California Drivers License

Physical Requirements

  • Physical stamina including the ability to work long event days, stand/walk for long periods of time and the ability to lift or move items up to 40 lbs.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
