Job Summary

We are looking for a creative individual who is interested in student development and event programming. Success in this position will require:
• Be inquisitive and open to learning about what is trending with our students
• Think creatively about our approach to meet the needs of different student populations

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President and Student Outreach Specialist, the student assistant will assist with support to the alumni engagement department with a special emphasis on event planning and student programming.

Assist the Student Alumni Ambassadors (60%)
• Serve as project lead to Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA)
• Assist with the fall and spring retreats for the student leadership board
• Assist with regular SAA meetings
• Assist SAA on event planning and implementation (4-8 events per year)
• Maintain a robust online presences (social media, TitanLink, etc.)
• Learn about programming budgets (State and Foundation)

Student Outreach Initiatives (20%)
• Assist with programming for first generation students, career development, and Dinner with 12 Titans
• Support all outreach efforts to engage students on campus
• Assist with student philanthropy and stewardship programs
• Assist with tailored marketing efforts to the different student communities (academic, identity based, class year, etc.)

Other Departmental Responsibilities (20%)
• Assist with Alumni Association sponsored events
• Assist with Alumni Association membership promotion to students
• Assist with student/alumni data processing

There are opportunities for increased responsibilities within the second year of assistantship. The selected individual will have opportunities to connect directly with alumni in various fields to expand their personal and professional network.

Minimum Qualifications

• Enrolled in the MS in Higher Education or Masters in Public Administration
• Experience assisting student organizations or event planning

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Cal State Fullerton graduate program for the 2026-2027 academic year
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English
• Ability to work in fast-paced diverse and multi-faceted team environment that includes students, faculty, staff, alumni and community volunteers
• Proficiency in the use of general office equipment and Windows-based co

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
