In this role, you will play a key role in shaping Greater Geelong’s vibrant arts and music scene by supporting music industry development, community-led programs, and major events like Geelong Design Week and ROAM arts festival. Help activate spaces and foster a thriving creative sector that aligns with the city’s cultural and economic vision.

Classification: Band 6 $92,971- $100,286 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the planning and delivery of key cultural and music initiatives like Geelong Design Week and ROAM arts festival, ensuring alignment with community needs and strategic goals. Support artists and businesses by activating spaces, commissioning new works, and expanding the region’s creative landscape.
- Support Geelong’s music industry by facilitating development programs, networking initiatives, and strategies aligned with the Arts and Cultural Strategy. Provide expert advice to artists, industry professionals, and businesses while fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Develop and lead inclusive arts, music, and design projects, securing partnerships and commissioning new works, including digital storytelling, with a focus on First Nations collaboration.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with artists, businesses, venues, and funding bodies to strengthen Geelong’s live music and creative industries.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including festival organisers and arts organisations, to integrate and enhance music and arts programs, ensuring a coordinated approach to cultural activation.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need a tertiary qualification in Community Development, Music, Arts & Cultural Management, or a related field, along with extensive experience in the music industry. Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills, as well as a proven track record in delivering major music and cultural events, are essential.
Essential Experience:
- Knowledge and experience of community development and the creative industries.
- Demonstrated experience in creative and cultural programs and project management.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing innovative and evidence-based outcomes within a music and arts industry context.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
