About the role

The Estimating Assistant will assist in the preparation of tenders and develop the skills associated with tendering/estimating. You will be responsible for;

• Review tender documents for scope of works, contract requirements, form of tender.

  • Understand the project types BMD choose to tender and the markets BMD are active in. 
    • Assist in the first principle pricing of civil construction estimates.

• Collect relevant tender information from new paper, electronic media for the review of senior estimator
• Develop point of contact with subcontractors for assistance in tendering.
• Assist in the preparation, checking or measuring of schedules or bills of quantities as directed by the estimator.
• Formulate accurate 2D measurements
• Maintain and update weekly tender register

Estimating projects in;

  • Land development - Residential and Industrial Sub-divisions
  • Water / Sewer / Recycled Water upgrades
  • Road infrastructure and stormwater drainage for local councils and VicRoads.

To succeed in this role, you will need

  • A civil engineering degree with interest in working the Civil Construction industry 
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and submission documents
  • Strong microsoft excel skills with exposure to Expert Estimation or CATS being a bonus
  • Proactive attitude, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail, with excellent verbal and written skills
