About the role
The Senior Manager, Systems is a leadership role responsible for driving the university’s transition to cloud-based infrastructure services. This position oversees the development and implementation of cloud strategies, architectures, and governance models to support the university’s future-state digital ecosystem. The role requires deep technical expertise in cloud technologies, combined with strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
As the Senior Manager, Systems, you will:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud adoption and migration strategy aligned with the university’s digital transformation goals
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of cloud infrastructure (IaC, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), ensuring integration with existing on-premise systems where appropriate
- Establish cloud governance frameworks including cost management (FinOps), security, identity management, and compliance
- Work collaboratively with Enterprise Architects, Application Owners, and Cyber Security and Resilience teams to support the modernisation of workloads and migration of legacy systems to cloud environments
- Manage a multidisciplinary team of Systems Managers, Systems Administrators and Cloud Specialists responsible for cloud platform operations, monitoring, and optimisation
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Proven expertise in the management of significant human and material resources; in addition to in some areas
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field is highly desirable
- Extensive experience in cloud computing, including hands-on experience with Azure
- Knowledge of and experience with AWS and GCP is highly desirable
- Experience in leading functional and technical teams through full life cycle cloud implementations
