JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut Sports Performance Department is seeking applications and nominations for the full-time position of Director of Football Strength and Conditioning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include: the development and administration of the strength/conditioning program for the UConn football team; strict compliance with NCAA regulations and any applicable athletic conferences; assistance with practice and game-day duties including pre-game/practice warm-ups; collaboration with Athletic Training staff as to the monitoring and rehabilitation of student-athletes with injuries; and assistance with communication of strength program organization to prospective student-athletes and parents.              

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science-related field of study.
  • Three years of experience (within the past ten years) at an FBS/FCS/NFL level as the head or assistant strength coach for the football program.
  • Current certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or strength and conditioning coach certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of experience (within the past ten years) at an FBS/FCS/NFL level as the head or assistant strength coach for the football program.
  • Master’s degree in an exercise science-related field if a Bachelor’s does not meet the requirement.
  • Possesses coaching and student-athlete development philosophies consistent with the Division of Athletics and its football program.
