JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director of NIL [Name, Image, & Likeness] Operations. This position will work with the Associate Athletic Director of Strategic Initiatives to support all efforts surrounding NIL, including identifying branding strategies for student-athletes to better help them understand their personal brand through NIL with content, educational material, and assisting with the management and execution of NIL opportunities for all student-athletes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Main point of contact for all NIL-related events and operations.
    • Work with student-athletes (& their agents) on external third-party deals.
    • Work with athletic leadership on the execution of NIL deals that have been sold/committed.
    • Oversight of NIL the Operations Graduate Assistant.
    • Oversight of Championship Labs.
      • Championship Labs is an in-house department to help student-athletes learn how to grow their brand and also provides access to content staff to fulfill NIL deal requirements.
    • Merchandise and apparel management of relationships and deals for student-athletes.
      • One Team group licensing.
    • Student-athlete education, including
      • Opt-in process,
      • Tax form education,
      • Payment processing,
      • Individual NIL branding,
      • NCAA/State of CT law disclosure.
    • Serve as a point of contact with Storrs Central and Learfield on all ongoing sales efforts related to the sale of our NIL deliverables that we have acquired with our student-athletes.
    • Identify new revenue opportunities for the department related to NIL sales.
      • At times, identify opportunities for our student-athletes as well.
    • Coordinate and track the obligations of all of our student-athletes related to their NIL deliverables.
      • Coordinate and manage the inventory of what service we request from each athlete.
      • Coordinate and manage the fulfillment with the sport programs' General Managers.
    • Attend and lead all production calls with third-party rentals that are using our facilities/student-athletes in NIL deals.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management or related field.
  • Four years of experience working within an intercollegiate athletic department (within the past five years).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Name, Image & Likeness and its evolution in the college athletics space.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree or working towards completion of the degree.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working within a Division I institution’s athletic department.
  • Experience in athletics marketing, operations or NIL department.
  • Previous experience working with corporate partners.
  • Previous experience or demonstrated knowledge of working with student-athletes' representatives.
  • Possesses name, image and likeness philosophies consistent with those of the Division of Athletics and its NIL department.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, end date position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding. Relocation assistance is not available.
