Job Description

The Department Administrative Assistant will provide support to the Center for Public & Corporate Veterinary Medicine, as well as to the Faculty/Staff of the Department of the Population Health Science of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, at Virginia Tech, to ensure an efficient level of daily office management. Duties include, but are not limited to department's HR responsibilities, wage payroll entering and monitoring, wage hiring, arranging department meetings and taking notes, project management, back up support for the second department admin and more. Support career transition workshops, support career advisor program and college level international program for CPCVM students.

Required Qualifications

Experience providing senior level administrative support; strong computer skills with advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills; HR/bookkeeping/accounting experience; ability to work independently and within a team environment; ability to make decisions, organize and prioritize work, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele and to create and maintain collaborative relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of university forms, policies, and procedures preferred. Previous experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and power Point. Previous experience with VT University systems such as Banner, HokieMart, Chrome River (Travel System), Virginia Tech Foundation, MicroStrategy, and Time Clock Plus. Knowledge of I-9 system, PageUp Applicant Tracking System/LMS/Onboarding, as well as other onboarding best practices.
Experience with international travel.
