The Department of Marketing at Boise State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning August 2026. We seek a dynamic and innovative scholar who will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service missions while helping prepare students for success in an evolving business landscape.

Position Goals and Context

This position is designed to support the department’s commitment to experiential and applied learning, innovative scholarship, and strong industry partnerships. The ideal candidate will engage students through interactive and practice-oriented teaching, advance knowledge in strategically important areas of marketing, and contribute to building the department’s collaborative culture.

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence or potential to
  • Conduct rigorous and innovative research in any area of marketing
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in marketing and sales that employ active and experiential learning strategies, such as client projects, service learning, and technology-enhanced instruction
  • Contribute to course and curriculum design that aligns the marketing and sales programs with industry needs and current and emerging marketing trends
  • Contribute to a collaborative, professional culture and departmental initiatives
Department overview

Boise State's Marketing Department currently offers Marketing Major (BBA) and Minor programs of study and a certificate in Professional Sales. Students majoring in marketing may choose emphasis areas in Brand and Product Marketing or Marketing Communications. Marketing courses, on average, enroll 34 students per course. Approximately 105 students per year graduate with a Marketing Major.

Minimum qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (PhD or DBA) in marketing or related discipline awarded by an AACSB-accredited program on or before August 2026.
  • Demonstrated potential for a sustained program of high-quality scholarly research in Marketing.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Preferred qualifications
  • A record of peer-reviewed journal publications or strong evidence of a pipeline in progress.
  • Demonstrated ability to use active and experiential learning strategies (e.g., client projects, service learning, technology-enhanced instruction).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a record of professionalism, collaboration, and respect in academic or professional settings.

Salary and Benefits

Base salary of $136,500 is competitive with AACSB median salaries for public research institutions.

Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract, unless noted that the position is temporary. More information about faculty contracts and work days is available here.
