Become part of a unique environmental laboratory team that operates in a high-production facility receiving water quality samples from across the state. As part of the LCRA laboratory, this role is suited for those who enjoy preparing water samples for analysis by IC, ICP, ICP-MS, TOC’s, Discreet Analyzers, Mercury Analyzers, and various other Environmental Equipment. You will work directly with the Inorganic team daily, communicate any sample/production issues to senior staff and the supervisor, and at times cross-train and provide support in other areas of the laboratory. You will be primarily working on independent tasks performing similar duties every day, and attention to detail is critical, while keeping the overall vision in focus. This role is an integral part of the laboratory operations and LCRA’s mission “To enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve through water stewardship, energy, and community service”.
You will be trusted to:
- Perform analysis on water and other matrices by using IC, ICP, ICP-MS and other Technical Equipment/Instruments. - Analyze, interpret data and entering data into a Laboratory Management System (LIMS). - Conduct troubleshooting of instrumentation, equipment and analytical methods to maintain production. - Review, write and revise Standard Operating Procedures. - Address and initiate corrective actions. - Train less experienced lab staff.

You qualify with:
A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, physical sciences, or engineering with 12 or more college semester credit hours in chemistry. Four or more years of experience as a chemist (or equivalent position) in a commercial laboratory or an Associate’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree(s) in the above disciplines may each be substituted per LCRA guidelines.

- Experience in analytical instrument troubleshooting and repair. - Experience with method development. - Experience in operation of analytical instruments using multiple technologies. - Ability to operate multiple analytical software.
