We're setting the standard for utility and energy communications in Texas. Now we're looking for a sharp communicator who's ready to do a little bit of everything and learn a lot along the way. LCRA is building a communications shop defined by speed, engagement and strategic impact. We're highly collaborative and committed to leading conversations. If you want to work somewhere that has the tools, the talent and the ambition to do outstanding work, keep reading. You'll be our utility player, focusing on strategic media analysis and intelligence. You'll be writing news releases, feature stories and managing content that feeds our multi-channel campaigns. You can expect to track projects and stakeholder engagement, and support our digital platforms. Doing whatever needs to be done to help LCRA establish its position as the authoritative voice on Texas energy and water issues. This isn't about sitting in a corner churning out one thing all day. You'll work across the team, build relationships throughout the organization and learn from experienced pros who are invested in your development. You'll contribute to work that advances LCRA's mission and cuts through the noise. You're joining a team built on four guiding principles: quality, relevance, speed and efficiency. Everything we produce reflects LCRA's expertise while connecting with what matters to our audiences. We operate with always-on capability, turning every piece of content into potential multi-channel campaigns. We're not a typical utility communications shop. We're establishing LCRA as the go-to voice on Texas energy and water policy. We're empowered to act quickly without sacrificing quality, and we invest in developing our people, building the skills and experience you'll need for the next stage of your career.
You will be trusted to:
- Write clearly and quickly without sacrificing quality - Stay organized when juggling multiple projects and competing deadlines - Show confidence and take initiative rather than waiting for direction - Embrace proactive approaches over reactive responses - Learn fast and adapt to new tools and platforms - Build relationships and foster exceptional teamwork across departments - Bring a professional yet personable presence to every interaction - Understand that modern communication requires digital fluency - See opportunities to lead conversations, not just participate in them
You qualify with:
- Four or more years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, public relations or other relevant experience. A degree(s) in communications, journalism, public relations, public policy, political science, graphic design, photography, digital photo and imaging or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
You are a great fit with:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field (or equivalent experience) - Strong writing and editing skills with AP style knowledge - Comfort with digital platforms, social media and web-based communication - Solid grasp of office productivity tools and willingness to learn new systems - Ability to translate complex technical topics into engaging, accessible content - Experience meeting tight deadlines while managing competing priorities - Understanding of how to connect with diverse stakeholders and audiences - Flexibility - This role will require a start time between 6 - 7 a.m. in order to meet internal deadlines. We are currently in a hybrid model schedule: required in-office days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, every week. Remote work allowed on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, but special events or other requirements may necessitate in-office or field work on other weekdays
You gain:
- Competitive salary & medical, dental, vision and legal insurance
- Paid time off, including time for vacation, sick and family care leave
- 401(k) match up to 8% that includes a student loan 401(k) contribution program option
- Life and disability insurance
- Wellness program including wellness incentive
- Extensive learning & development programs
And more - all to create a compelling and rewarding work environment.
