Department Summary

The mission of the Department of Learning Technologies is to enhance learning and performance through innovative research, teaching, and service focused on, but not limited to: learning technology, information, language, and computing technologies to advance human performance, training, learning, and cognitive development.

Position Overview

This position performs a variety of basic and advanced technical and administrative support duties for the Learning Technologies department assisting the chairperson, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities also include processing departmental graduate admissions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training

Required License/Registration/Certifications

 

Job Duties:

  • Process Ph.D. applications promptly, organize applicant information, and prepare admission files for faculty review. Interact with prospective graduate students, provide application guidance, and assist with issue resolution. Manage student data and generate admissions reports as needed.
  • Create and post social media content for the department in coordination with the College marketing team; monitor and maintain department social media accounts. Collect and share faculty and student accomplishments for departmental and college-wide updates and social media promotion. 
  • Support recruitment and partnership initiatives by collaborating with the college marketing team, department chair, program directors, and faculty. Identify potential applicant pools, develop strategic initiatives, and coordinate recruitment events for the BAS, MS, and Ph.D. programs, including occasional travel to recruitment sites.
  • Develop and maintain department records in compliance with UNT’s record retention policy.
  • Assist the department chair with scheduling meetings, sending calendar invites, preparing meeting materials, taking minutes, and creating presentation slides.
  • Perform general office duties, including monitoring and responding to departmental emails, handling mail, and managing meeting room bookings.
  • Serve as the textbook adoption liaison between faculty and the bookstore.
  • Act as the department’s Designated Inventory Coordinator, maintaining asset lists, assisting with off-campus checkouts, and conducting annual inventory checks. 
  • Attend and support departmental and college events, including commencements, both on and off campus, during and outside regular hours.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by the department chair, such as maintaining course review records for CLEAR and reminding faculty of deadlines for submitting course revisions and newly or redeveloped courses.
