About the role: 

As a Registered Nurse at the Jamie Larcombe Centre, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and evidence-based mental health care. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team framework
  • Working collaboratively with mental health consumers and their families where there can be multiple complexities, diverse cultural backgrounds and consumer expectations
  • Providing direct person-centred nursing care patients on a shift by shift basis
  • Providing health promotion and education, to patients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individuals
  • Providing, with increasing capacity over time, support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, enrolled nurses and student nurses
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our patients

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate.
  • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice
  • Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards
  • Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work within a team framework that fosters an environment that develops staff potential

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a RN01 or RN2C and classification will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.
