Responsible for planning, developing and implementing Drupal-based websites and interactive media for the University. Enthusiastic, resourceful and detail-oriented individual to collaborate with a small team of technologists, designers, writers and marketers to create and launch engaging projects focused on telling Lehigh's story, enhancing the institution's reputation, recruiting students and fundraising. Work experience with HTML, CSS, and JS frameworks, and Drupal site theming, building and configuration is preferred. The Lehigh community takes seriously our commitment to antiracism and The Principles of our Equitable Community.

1. Web Development - Develops, implements and manages key strategic websites including Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid; interactive digital media solutions as needed in support of University Communications, including digital editions of magazines and publications and campus maps; University initiatives, such as strategic plans and campaigns
*Creates standards-compliant, Drupal-based and HTML websites and other forms of interactive digital communications utilizing modern responsive web design techniques and CSS and JS code frameworks
*Stays informed and utilizes best practices and emerging trends in the area of web development, UX and UI design; identifies, evaluates and recommends adoption of new technologies, innovative tools and more efficient techniques where appropriate
*Ensures production work complies with communication and visual design standards and University privacy, computing and security policies
*Manages the day-to-day process to ensure that Web content is up-to-date, accurate and accessible
*Utilizes licensed quality assurance software to identify and resolve technical errors and help assure web content complies with Section 508 and state and federal accessibility guidelines
*Compiles benchmark studies, programs online surveys, helps to administer focus groups and/or usability tests and conducts other website research as needed to test customer-effectiveness of websites and to inform ongoing development
*Leads development of digital publication editions that utilize our news engine database to increase engagement with related stories and improve visibility and rank on search engines, such as Google
*Develops improved workflows with design, editorial and marketing teams to transform print-based brochures and digital editions into engaging online experiences
*Tracks and reports on project milestones throughout the development process
*Participates in tests of Lehigh’s emergency messaging systems and publishes emergency preparedness information to the University website

2. Drupal and other Systems Administration and Management (DevOps)
*Monitors and manages supported systems; serves as system administrator
*Utilizes advanced scripting language skills such as PHP and JavaScript, required to publish the Lehigh site on such supported platforms as Drupal
*Manages and uses the University Communications and Public Affairs (UCPA) web team’s instance of version control software such as Git and ensures project-related source code, documentation, style guides and other assets are properly archived
*Works closely with University's web hosting system administrator to set up supported information architecture and configure workflow for the Content Management System (CMS) and proactively manages platform throughout the lifecycle
*Manages content migrations, including news articles and webpages, to upgraded versions of supported CMS or to other platforms as required
*Monitors daily operational readiness of our supported CMS and related communication tools and maintains product documentation and related source code
*Keeps abreast of Drupal and other system advances and changes in technology and best practices through continuing education

3. Account Administration and Training
*Provides account administration, training and technical assistance for users of supported Drupal CMS and other systems
*Initiates, manages and administers user authentication and access services for supported CMS and other systems
*Develops and administers custom training programs, develops training aides and documentation as necessary so that UCPA staff and other partners can create and update website content
*Communicates best practices, tips and user guidelines to help staff become proficient, effective and productive users of CMS and other systems; help to ensure consistent brand character across the University website and helping UCPA staff and partners better plan, implement, monitor and manage the content they contribute

4. Troubleshooting
*Analyzes technical issues, performs troubleshooting activities and provides technical assistance related to overall web development, production and publishing issues
*Serves as the UCPA point of contact for troubleshooting content publishing-related issues
*Troubleshoots web publishing-related issues through research, trial and error or with the help of contracted support
*Collects specific information from users about problems and either works to resolve the issues directly or reports them to collaborate as a team on a proposed solution
*Performs a series of tasks to narrow the scope of the problem, or presents multiple options to resolve the technical issues
*Assists and participates in the testing of new devices, systems, workflows, software upgrades and feature enhancements

Special Considerations

This position may be eligible for a fully remote work arrangement pending University approval.

May require additional or unusual hours, sometimes with little or no advanced notice, in order to manage system, product or content upgrades, or to provide communication assistance during emergencies

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Five to eight years related work experience

Desired experience managing supported content management system, including providing training, account administration, and technical assistance for user base in a marketing communication environment

Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills and a high level of customer service required

Ability to build, foster and maintain positive professional relationships 

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, time management and sound judgment 

Adept use of digital communication preferred 

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to completion 

Solid analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills

Excellent computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position

All Lehigh faculty and staff are required to be fully vaccinated and receive a booster shot six months after their second vaccine; unless they receive an approved medical or religious exemption from the requirement.
