The Laboratory Technician in the Biological Sciences Department is responsible for assisting in project development, perform experiments, analyze data, perform fieldwork and co-author publications, under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. 1. Establish and maintain lines of fish using CRISPR and transgenic technology
Supporting Activities
*Generate reagents for functional manipulation of genomes
*Perform gene editing and transgenesis techniques in fish
*Establish stable lines of genetically manipulated fish
2. Perform behavioral experiments for mapping and functional analysis of candidate behavioral genes
Supporting Activities
*Establish and troubleshoot behavioral protocols
*Quantify behavior of fish
3. Carry out molecular experiments
Supporting Activities
*DNA extraction and genotyping of fish
*Cloning and other molecular techniques
4. Participate in fieldwork
Supporting Activities
*Participate in fieldwork in Mexico and Texas
*Analyze behavior in the field
*Aid in collection of environmental samples in the field
*Analyze data collected in the field
5. Co-author publications
Supporting Activities
*Participate in data collection, analysis and presentation for manuscripts
*Participate in writing of manuscripts

Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Genetics or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
