Overview: Reporting to the Director of Student Conduct, the Assistant Director will assist with the oversight of student and organizational conduct through the standards of the code of conduct. The Assistant Director is responsible for an independent conduct caseload; advising conduct officers within the scope of their role; and educating the University community surrounding student rights and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as conduct officer for students and student organizations
  • Meet with students and student organizations to review the conduct and appeal process in preparation for meetings
  • Communicate with students and family members regarding interim disciplinary measures
  • Review incident management system for appropriate case distribution
  • Collaborate with conduct officers to determine alleged violations of the code of conduct and sanctions within institutional guidelines
  • Oversee administration of sanction completion
  • Assist the Director with training to professional and paraprofessional staff
  • Educate campus community members about standards of behavior expected through the code of conduct
  • Assist with the execution and organization of educational-based sanction workshops
  • Assist in assessment efforts including the educational outcomes of sanction-based learning and effectiveness of conduct officers
  • Partner with University constituents including but not limited to Residential Life, Public Safety, Counseling, and the Student Health Services
  • Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in Student Affairs
  • Experience with student conduct processes, including case management, investigations, and hearings is very helpful
  • Experience in developing and delivering educational programs related to student conduct, conflict resolution, and community standards is very helpful
  • Strong understanding of student development theory, legal issues in higher education (e.g., FERPA, Title IX), and best practices in student conduct administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound decisions.
  • Proficiency in using student conduct software and other relevant technology (e.g., Maxient, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to fairness and impartiality in the conduct process.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize various obligations with fluctuating deadlines,
  • Ability to interpret University policies, procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
