All undergraduate students from any major are encouraged to apply. Fellows engage in fulltime summer public service in a Hamden or North Haven Town government department. Fellows provide service to the Town under the mentorship of a Town Department Head and carry out an individual project meeting the needs of the Town and provides a tangible and durable benefit to the community. Starting May 26, students will be expected to work fulltime until July 25. Students will be placed in one of the following government offices according to town needs and student background and interest: Mayor’s office, Town Clerk, Senior Services, Community Development, Economic Development, Library, Planning and Zoning, Town Engineer, Public Works. Pay: Stipend for the summer is $6500, plus on-campus summer residence hall lodging for no charge. Fellows are enrolled in a three-day academic course for orientation and training for no tuition charge, starting March 27. Full time work starts on May 26 and ends on July 25. |
