Job Summary 

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Clinical Practice (OCP) and the Associate Dean, the Senior Placement Coordinator will be responsible for supervising office staff, arranging field placements of teacher candidates in regional PK-12 schools, supporting teacher interns, ensuring affiliation agreements are up-to-date, and using digital tracking systems to document and monitor placement data (e.g., S4, MyCED, other tracking systems) in line with accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Placement and Intern Support: Secure clinical III placements of student teachers in initial teacher credential programs in a variety of diverse, urban
  • school districts.
  • Placement Data Tracking and Risk Management: Administer a digital data management system (e.g., S4@Beach, MyCED, etc.) to document and track field sites, student placements, hours, reflections, and other fieldwork information for tracking, reporting, and accreditation purposes in consultation/collaboration with OCP Director, program coordinators, and Dean's office.
  • General OCP Office Supervision and Communication: Provide informational sessions and support to students on clearance processes, applications for fieldwork and placement protocols in collaboration with ASC, TPAC, and Credential Center.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

 Strong oral and written communication abilities. Ability to learn, interpret, clearly explain and apply a variety of complex policies and programs.  Strong data management and technology skills (e.g., EXCEL, MS Office, database management software, survey software, and web-based programs and collaboration systems such as MS Teams). Willingness to participate in Staff Governance in the College and engage in staff professional development activities.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and three years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required (e.g. clinics, counseling center, community organization) required.
  • Experience with long-term project management or program coordination, including data reporting and technology implementation preferred.
  • Teaching or other Education Credential preferred.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,276 - $7,517 per month.

Time Base

1.0  time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
