The Director, Student Service Operations position is a key role within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Portfolio and will provide direction and leadership of student support, international student compliance, access and inclusion, and advice functions to support the university to deliver its strategic outcomes.

As a member of the strategic leadership team of Student Services and reporting directly to the Executive Director, Student Services, the Director will have a strong student focused mindset and will have oversight of the provision of student advice and support, including faculty specialist support and course advice and enrolments to improve the student experience and provide positive student outcomes.

The position supports the achievement of Deakin’s strategic goals through the establishment of a seamless cross-campus student operations function and leads the team to a high level of quality and consistent service outcomes. The role will be expected to transform student operation services and champion and lead change.

As the Director, Student Service Operations, you will:

  • Have a strong student focussed mindset and a passion for building efficiencies, with student feedback at the forefront of all continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of skilled professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with Deakin’s goals and future needs. Collaborate with university-wide colleagues and key stakeholders on strategic projects to address current and future operational requirements
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and analysis of major initiatives and projects
  • Act as the Principle Executive Officer for the legislative framework, ESOS Act and National Code 2018

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Qualifications and significant relevant experience commensurate with an appointment at level
  • Extensive experience conceptualising, developing, and implementing contemporary solutions, strategies, and services to achieve a large organisation’s objectives
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary relevant discipline practices and interpretation of both government and University policy.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strong and productive relationships with internal and external partners and customers
  • Proven ability to exercise judgement, influence others, be flexible and adaptive to environmental changes and priorities, and gain support for new plans, programs or initiatives
